Hon. Richard Marvin

1803-1892

Richard Pratt Marvin served in 1855, 1863. Born in Fairfield, Herkimer County, N.Y., Dec. 23, 1803, a descendant of Reinold Marvin, an original settler in Hartford, Conn. Elected to state assembly, 1835. Representative to Congress (Whig), 1837-1841. Member, New York State Constitutional Convention, 1846. Elected to state supreme court, eighth judicial district, in 1847, 1855, and 1863, serving until 1873. Resided in Jamestown, Chautauqua County. Died in Jamestown, Jan. 11, 1892.
