Elisha Powell Hurlbut served in 1850. Born 1807, in Salisbury, Herkimer County, N.Y. Elected to supreme court, first judicial district, 1847. Died Sep. 5, 1889, in Glenmont, Albany County, N.Y. Interred in Albany Rural Cemetery. Author, “Essays on Human Rights and Their Political Guarantees” (New York, 1845); “A Secular View of Religion in the State and the Bible in the Public Schools” (Albany, 1870).
