David Lyman Follett

Justice of the Second Division of the Court of Appeals, 1889-1892

David Lyman Follett was born in Serburne (Chenango County), N.Y., on July 17, 1836, and educated at Oneida Conference Academy in Norwich, N.Y. Elected to state supreme court, 1875, reelected 1888. Appointed by Gov. Grover Cleveland to General Term, Fourth Department, 1884. In 1887, appointed (with David Dudley Field and Judge William Rumsey) to revise the proposed Code of Evidence. Appointed associate justice, General Term, First Department, 1892; appointed to Appellate Division, Fourth Department, 1895. Died Jul. 5, 1899 in Norwich, N.Y. The David L. Follett Supreme Court Library is located at 5-9 West Main Street, 2d Floor, Norwich, N.Y. (see also, New York Times obituary, Jul. 6, 1899, p. 7).
