Charles Daniels

1825-1897

Charles Daniels served in 1869. Born in New York, N.Y., Mar. 24, 1825. Founder of Buffalo Law School in 1887. Elected to supreme court, eighth judicial district, 1863, 1869, and 1877, serving until 1891. Gov. John A. Dix appointed him associate justice General Term, First Department, 1873-1875, reappointed by Gov. Alonzo B. Cornell, 1880, serving until 1891. Representative to Congress, 33d District (Republican), 1893-1897. Defeated in election for Court of Appeals in 1886. Died in Buffalo, Dec. 20, 1897. Interred in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
