Alonzo Christopher Paige

1797-1868

Alonzo Christopher Paige served in 1851, 1857. Born in Schaghticoke, Rensselaer County, Jul. 31, 1797. Williams College graduate, 1812. Elected to state assembly, 1827-1830. Reporter to court of chancery (Paige’s Reports), 1828-1846. Compiled 11 volumes (1830-1848), later revising four (1856-1857). Elected to state supreme court 1847, serving 4 years; elected again in 1855. Died in Schenectady, N.Y., Mar. 31, 1868. See 1 McAdam, History of the Bench and Bar of New York, New York History Co. (1897), p. 439. His portrait is hanging in the New York Court of Appeals Courtroom, east wall.
