This photograph features two historic “Chiefs” — Earl Warren and Stanley Fuld — taken in the courtroom at Court of Appeals Hall on April 4, 1967. Warren was in Albany that day to give a speech at the opening day of the New York State Constitutional Convention, held in the State Capitol. Warren flew from Washington to Albany County Airport and arrived at 9:43 a.m., where he was welcomed by Fuld. The two men then went to Court of Appeals Hall, where, as you can see, Fuld gave Warren a tour of the courtroom. The picture shows Fuld pointing out to Warren the portrait of one of his predecessors on the Supreme Court, John Jay, the first Chief Justice of the United States.
