Hon. Sergio Jimenez is a Judge of the Queens County Civil Court, in the Housing Part. He hears non-payment, holdover, illegal lock out and repair request proceedings.
Prior to ascending to the bench in 2018, he served as Director of the Civil Justice Practice of Brooklyn Defender Services from 2013 to 2018. Judge Jimenez supervised the Civil Justice Practice, which handled all housing, public benefits, consumer, civil forfeiture, and other civil legal issues.
Before joining Brooklyn Defender Services, Judge Jimenez served as Director of Legal Services for Bushwick Housing & Legal Assistance from 2011-2013. He also served as law clerk, staff attorney, and deputy director at Bushwick Housing & Legal Assistance.
Judge Jimenez earned his Bachelor’s from McGill University in Montreal and his J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.
Thania Charmani is a litigation associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom and a member of the firm’s Complex Litigation and Trials Group. Her practice focuses on securities and commercial litigation. Prior to joining Skadden, Thania was a fellow with the Cornell Death Penalty Project. She has a Bachelor of Law degree from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, a Juris Doctorate degree and an LLM from Cornell Law School.
