James Mullett

1784-1858

James Mullett served 1851. Born in Whitington, Vt., Oct. 17, 1784, the eldest of 13 children. Moved to Darien, Genesee County, N.Y., circa 1800, and to Fredonia, Chautauqua County, in 1810. Admitted to the Chautauqua court of common pleas, 1814, and to supreme court, 1816. Elected (Bucktail Party) to state assembly, 1822, 1823. Buffalo city attorney, 1846. Elected to state supreme court, eighth judicial district, 1847. Died Sep. 10, 1858. See Proctor, The Bench and Bar of New York (1870), pp. 84-103; Obituary, The New York Times, Sep. 13, 1858.
