New York’s Own Revolution: The Anti-Rent War of the Hudson Valley & Its Relevance Today

Presented by the Historical Society of the New York Courts and the Supreme Court of the State of New York, Appellate Division, Third Department, with support from the New York State Unified Court System Office for Justice Initiatives.

Join the Society and the Appellate Division, Third Department for a film screening and conversation about New York’s own revolution: The Anti-Rent War of the 1800s. This event will feature a screening of Calico Rebellion (directed by Victoria Kupchinetsky) as well as a panel discussion featuring Dr. Bruce W. Dearstyne, Historian and Editor, Revolutionary New York: 250 Years of Social Change, and Dr. Nancy Newman, Professor at University at Albany and Author, Songs and Sounds of the Anti-Rent Movement in Upstate New York, that highlights the history and legacy of the Anti-Rent War, and how it is still relevant today.
