George B. Bradley

Justice George B. Bradley was born on February 5, 1825 in Greene, NY. From 1872 to 1873 he was a member of the Constitutional Commission and he was a State Senator from 1874 to 1877.

Bradley served as a Justice of the State Supreme Court from 1884 to 1897. In 1890, he was one of seven Supreme Court justices named by Gov. David B. Hill to a Second Division of the Court of Appeals, created as a separate body to assist with an “overcrowded calendar [that] called for judicial reinforcement” (Sullivan 111). Bradley served on this Second Division from March 1889 to October 1892. On February 21, 1896 he was designated by Gov. Morton to hold special terms of the Supreme Court at the Steuben County Court House in Corning, NY. Then, on September 30, 1896, he was designated by Gov. Morton as an Associate Justice of the Appellate Division, Second Department, his term ending December 31, 1897.

Bradley died at his home in Corning, NY on January 9, 1916 at the age of 91.
