Frederick Collin and Emory A. Chase Stroll in Albany

Taken in September 1913, this press photo shows Court of Appeals Judges Frederick Collin of Elmira (left) and Emory A. Chase of Catskill (right) taking a stroll likely near or in front of the State Capitol in Albany. Inserted between them is an image of Chief Judge Edgar M. Cullen of Brooklyn. The occasion which gave rise to the picture was the impeachment trial of Governor William Sulzer before the Court of Impeachment, over which Cullen presided and Collin and Chase sat along with their colleagues on the Court of Appeals and the members of the State Senate.

The picture is rare in that it is the one of the few images of Court of Judges from early 20th Century shown in motion, as opposed to sitting on the bench or posing for a studio portrait.
