Hon. Andrew Borrok obtained his B.A. from Columbia University, his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center, and his M.B.A. from Columbia Business School. He has served as a Supreme Court Justice in both Kings County and New York County, and previously, served as a New York City Civil Court Judge, presiding over bench and jury trials in both the Criminal and Civil Courts.
He was appointed to the Commercial Division, New York County effective January 1, 2019 and presides over a broad array of complex domestic and international commercial disputes, including cases involving federal securities law, contract law, real property law, corporate law, and class action claims. Justice Borrok has published hundreds of opinions, settled many major cases, and has substantially reduced the backlog of cases in his trial part.
Prior to joining the bench, Justice Borrok was an attorney, investor, philanthropist and community volunteer. He was managing member of Borrok Properties, LLC and 14 Penn Plaza, LLC, and General Counsel and a General Partner of 425 Park Avenue Company. He was Of Counsel at Arent Fox LLP, and before had worked at Squire, Sanders & Dempsey, LLP, Bear, Stearns & Co., Investment Banking Division, and at Proskauer Rose LLP.
Justice Borrok has served on the Boards of the Mt. Sinai Hospital, Columbia College, Business Executives for National Security, the 34th Street Partnership, Citymeals-on-Wheels and Community Board 2 in Brooklyn. In 2013, he received a Commendation from NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly, a Commendation from Retired General Montgomery C. Meigs, 31st Commander of the U.S. Army Europe on behalf of the Business Executives for National Security, and a Dean’s Leadership Award from Coumbia College. He also has been inducted into Mt. Sinai’s Noble Deeds Society. While in college, he also received Columbia University’s James Christopher Caraley Memorial Prize awarded to the student who demonstrates the greatest commitment to the natural environment.
Jake Walter-Warner is an associate at Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP, a law firm based in Manhattan. Jake’s practice focuses on antitrust law and complex commercial litigation. He graduated from New York University School of Law in 2015 magna cum laude and Order of the Coif. From 2016 to 2017, Jake clerked for Judge Jack B. Weinstein of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Prior to attending law school, Jake received a B.S. in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University in 2012.
