Justice Robert A. Spolzino earned degrees from Georgetown University in 1980 and St. John’s University School of Law in 1983. From 1987 until 1995, he served as Village Attorney for Mount Kisco in Westchester County, NY. Spolzino also served as confidential law secretary to Justice Leon D. Lazer of the Appellate Division and Judge Kenneth H. Lange of the Westchester County Court, and practiced law at the firm of Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman & Dicker, LLP in White Plains.

Spolzino began his judicial career as a trial judge and as Supervising Judge of the Matrimonial Parts in Westchester County. In 2001, he was elected as a Justice of the State Supreme Court, a position he held for eight years. Spolzino was designated by Governor George E. Pataki to the Appellate Division, Second Department in 2004 and was re-designated by Governor Eliot Spitzer in 2007. He retired from the bench in 2009, and has since returned to Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman & Dicker, LLP as senior appellate counsel, also serving as chair of the Municipal and Public Entity Law practice there.

Additionally, Justice Spolzino has served as an adjunct professor at Pace University School of Law, teaching environmental impact review, and has lectured extensively on topics including matrimonial law, appellate practice, and liability related to climate change and hydro-fracturing. His extensive membership in professional associations includes the American, New York State and Westchester County Bar Associations, the Association of Supreme Court Justices of the State of New York and the Columbian Lawyers of Westchester County. Spolzino has served on the Continuing Legal Education Board for New York State and on several committees, including the Matrimonial Commission and the Commission to Promote Public Confidence in Judicial Elections. He is a fellow of the New York Bar Foundation, chair of the Board of Trustees of Northern Westchester Hospital and director of Stellaris Health Network.
